Empowering Education: Hammermill's Commitment to Learning Takes Center Stage
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - At Hammermill, we believe paper has the power to educate, inspire, and uplift. As we step into a new school year, we're continuing our unwavering commitment to support education and to make a positive impact in local communities.
It’s why we made a heartfelt pledge to aid educators across the nation. By working with educator and campaign leader Sarah Stair (Instagram handle: @mrs.stair), we donated $5,000 to her "#ClearTheList" social media effort — shining a spotlight on the challenges educators face due to a lack of classroom supplies. By leveraging the influence of social media, we're raising awareness and facilitating access to essential items on teachers' wish lists, working together to create a better learning environment for all.
Our parent company, Sylvamo, is also joining the cause.
They’ve donated 7,600 reams of paper — that’s 3.8 million sheets — to empower classrooms and learning environments across America.
The Memphis World Headquarters team also renovated a teacher’s breakroom at adopt-a-school Balmoral Ridgeway Elementary with new appliances, furniture and décor. And by teaming up with the NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies, Sylvamo is co-hosting "Read to Achieve ‒ Grizz Goes Back to School," an event aimed at encouraging English as a second language (ESL) students to embrace the joy of reading.
